Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Washington, D.C. I moved every four years of my life until I moved to Buffalo in 2002. This is where I’ve planted my roots.

Tell us about your educational background.

I attended Bethune Cookman College, an HBC. Upon graduation I was commissioned as an officer, branched Military Intelligence for the United States Army.

What motivated you to volunteer with this organization dedicated to creating opportunities for all women to learn, earn, and lead?

What motivated me to join was your mission statement. Your mission struck home. I will support any woman or organization dedicated to helping women reach their fullest potential.

What advice can you give to women striving to succeed in a similar career path to the one you’ve chosen?

Be Resilient! No one is immune to failure. Life will always be riddled with obstacles, objections, failures, and no’s. The question is, “What are you prepared to do with it?”

Stephen Curry, who single-handedly changed the 3-pointer game, missed 4,173 shots from beyond the arc in his professional career (and still counting). So who are we to think failure is not a part of a successful game plan? Maybe failure could be practice for success.

All I know is to be Resilient in what you believe in. I say the word every morning as apart of my meditation. Be Resilient!

Anything else you would like to add?

Thank you for the opportunity to support our women. I can’t believe in 2022 we are still talking about equal pay for women. That should be proof enough we still have much work to do. Let’s go my Sisters!
